So as many of you have probably heard in the news, the Golden Stare Killer, also known as the East Area Rapist was finally found after 44 years. Joseph James DeAngelo, age 72, murdered 12 people and committed over 45 rapes in at least 10 counties in California from '74-'86. According to the police, they used the DNA from the crime scenes against that of a genealogy site's. In this case, it was GEDmatch's samples people sent in; used because it is free and open to the public. Police have also caught the "Grim Sleeper" and the "Roaming Rapist" in California using this site. Other popular sites such as Myheritage, 23andME, and Ancestry do not share any of their information with law enforcement. I found it interesting that he was a police officer in the 70's. Costco's value proposition is that they offer high quality at a low price, with fast and immediate access. Costco sells anything and everything you can think of, in bulk, which is handy for a lot of people who don't like to run to the store constantly. They're also known for bringing in new items in and having them sell out quickly, this prompts people to buy items without giving much thought because they either don't want to miss out on the deal, or are afraid the item won't be there the next time they come back. Here are a few of tweets people have made about Costco. I think it's a smart marketing move to not have signs for this reason. I think by doing so people end up buying more than they were planning on and end up seeing things that wouldn't have thought to look for. Topic 1: I enrolled in marketing because not only is it required for my degree, but I think I could learn a great deal from it. My major is Business administration. From this class I hope to learn the basics of marketing so I'm able to make a marketing plan for a company or for my own business in the future. I'm passionate about hiking and traveling. I have traveled to many places around Oregon just to simply hike and enjoy nature. To name a few, I have been to Smith Rock, Silver Creek Falls, Abiqua Falls, Terwilliger hot springs, Bagby hot springs, Oneonta trailhead, Proxy Falls, Ramona Falls, McDowell Creek Falls, Multnomah Falls as well as many hidden trails and swim holes around Oregon. Topic 2: What caught my eye about this ad from Bloomingdale's was that it's saying to intentionally "drug" or put something in your friends drink that they do not know about, nor consent to.
